Schools managed to achieve energy savings up to 50% thanks to the European programme 'Check it out'.

The EU energy savings project 'Check it out!' has been a huge success for the participating schools. 90 Schools throughout Europe managed to save up to 50% on their energy bills. The schools could achieve this thanks to the advice of energy consultant Ecofys, a part of Econcern.

Besides practical tips and measures, a school package has been developed to help pupils of participating schools to become aware of the durability of their energy consumption. In Holland, Germany, Spain, Hungary and Bulgaria consultants had a good look at possible energy saving measures like insolation and energy efficient lighting. By doing that savings were realised from ?1000-?7500 per year. A gymnasium in Berlin was able to get a subsidy of ?1.6 million thanks to the energy tips!

In order to also give other schools, companies and institutions the chance to save energy, the best tips of the project were then bundled in a special brochure.
