Solar Pond Lighting - Using the Sun's Rays for Night Time Aesthetics

At first glance, the though of using solar power to add lights to a pond might seem kind of odd, if not outright ridiculous. But anyone who has had a serious outdoor garden for any amount of time knows that the smallest decorative touches can make a huge difference. Adding a nice green or blue (or whatever color tickles your fancy) light in the small ponds at night can add a particularly stunning extra bit of aesthetic beauty to any well tended night time garden.

Pond lighting can be accomplished through one of two ways. One is by having specially designed lights that can be under the water, causing a glow to emerge from the bottom of the pools and up the surface, or the other common way to achieve pond lighting with solar power is to use a bright solar powered spotlight. This light can collect solar energy during the day, and then when night falls, it will activate, pointing a light (either regular or specially colored) either at the water, around the water, or most of those spotlights can also be placed in the water itself.

These lights are environmentally friendly (i.e. "green") since they only use solar power, an add a nice "finished" feeling to the ponds that are so important in making a peaceful and beautiful night time garden reach its fullest potential. Pond lighting can come in many colors, as well. You can just use normal light, if that's your thing, or you can add a little extra flair with red, orange, green, or blue lights to add that stunning aesthetic touch to put your garden over the top.

Pond lighting is especially convenient for places that are hard to run electrical extensions to. Why have wires left outside and exposed, when some solar lights are not only cheaper in the long run, but can light up the area without a bunch of extension cords working as glaring eye sores?

Solar powered pond lighting is a great idea, and a great practical addition to many outdoor gardens and walking paths. Something as small as the specific lighting used can make all the difference.
