Producing Solar Energy - Cost Effective and Environmentally Friendly

Producing solar energy is getting more cost effective as panels become more efficient and energy prices rise throughout the world. Solar power is an environmentally friendly source of electricity. Sunlight is free and solar power is generated from sunlight. There are no obnoxious emissions to damage the environment and no drain on scarce resources. There is no monthly electric bill.

Producing solar energy requires the use of a solar power generator. This consists of solar panels which have multicrystalline wafers or thin film amorphous silicone on a reflective background and covered with tempered glass and mounted in a lightweight aluminum frame. These panels can be joined together to generate the amount of output that is required.

The multicrystalline or thin film reacts with the sunlight and creates DC electricity. This DC electricity is transformed into AC current by the inverter box and then is directed to the other components of the system to power the building or whatever, strictly using sunlight. The solar power systems may store the energy in batteries or it may be connected to the power grid to transfer excess electricity to the electric company.

The solar panels must be mounted in an area where they are exposed to sunlight. Without sunlight, they cannot generate power. Some units have tracking mechanisms that change the angle of the solar panel during the day so the panels always have the maximum amount of sunlight at the proper angle. The panels can be mounted on the roof of they can be positioned on the ground in a solar field.

Some utility companies buy power from solar power fields. These are businesses who own a solar field that generates electricity that they sell to the electric company who then sell it to their customers.

As environmental concerns and oil prices increase, there is more interest in making solar energy. The initial cost of installing a solar power system is expensive, it is becoming more attractive as energy prices increase and as there is more concern with carbon emissions.
