Jobs in the Solar Industry: An Economic Boom for Alternative Energy

A bit of solar education: As the dangers of global warming and other environmental hazards become more and more apparent, the job market for alternative sources of energy such as solar, wind, or hydro-electric, continue to grow at impressive rates. In fact, the demand for good employees to fill job openings in the solar industry has never been higher!

Jobs in the solar industry continue to increase at an impressive rate that is well above most other sectors in the economy. In addition to this, an analysis of these jobs, particularly in the United States, shows some really interesting trends. One is that over 60% of all the sales made by solar firms in the United States goes overseas, meaning that the jobs stay in the country while the products get shipped internationally to other companies and countries smart enough and savvy enough to use solar technology to build a solid ground work for the future.

The solar industry just keeps expanding, as well. Even in years where the economy is doing terrible, jobs in the solar industry continue to increase in double digit percentages. Because of the increasing price of oil and other fossil fuels, even by low ball estimates the use of solar energy is expected to possibly double as early as by the year 2010. What does this mean for jobs in the solar industry? Mainly that there would probably be something in the region of 400,000 new ones.Jobs in the Solar Industry are on the increase

This technology is still relatively undeveloped, but it is widely recognized now as being a legitimate and stable source of energy and power that can provide many solutions to the burgeoning energy crisis that faces all nations in the world. In the United States alone, there are over 20,000 people who have jobs in the solar industry that are directly tied to the companies, while an estimated over 150,000 other jobs are supported by the solar industry.

These jobs tend to be higher paying, and support many blue collar jobs around them, making the solar energy field a huge economic friend to white collar and blue collar alike. The demand and interest in jobs in the solar industry has grown so much, that there is even a website (similar to Monster.com) that deals only with green jobs called, appropriately enough, Greenjobs.com.

As the technology continues to improve, and demand rises, it's easy to see that the growth of jobs in the solar industry is only going to continue.
